WHAT IS CITYLAB?
We are a science educational program run by UCLA undergraduate and graduate students to introduce high school students in the Los Angeles area to the rapidly developing world of biotechnology through hands on laboratory experience.

At the same time, we provide a forum for UCLA students to serve as undergraduate CityLab Members who act as mentors to the high school students we serve, while learning effective teaching skills by instructing the high school students and executing lab exercises in a laboratory setting.
MISSION
Our mission is to introduce high school students in the Los Angeles area to the rapidly developing world of biotechnology though hands-on laboratory experience. We expose high school students to inquiry-based learning, the scientific process, and critical thinking. We aim to foster in these students an appreciation of and interest in scientific research, while educating students about different career options in science and fostering friendships between students and their CityLab mentors.
AWARDS & HONORS
CityLab at UCLA was proud to receive the Spring 2015 Mongelli Award for Excellence and Civic Engagement.
